We decided to leave the house at 9 o’clock. We went towards The City of London. In front of the station Bank, there was The Monument which is here to commemorate the Great Fire of London. In 1666, two-thirds of the city had been burnt. It was composed of stone with a flaming copper urn on the top. Next to this, there was a building called « The Monument Building ». In opposition, this one was in corrugated iron and glass.

We visited this district on foot. We saw the structure where The Sky Garden was. Its shape wasn’t concave. On the top, it was largest than on the bottom.

When we walked in The City, there were many well-dressed men because it was the biggest business district in London.
We had difficulties to find the Gherkin, it was hidden by many skyscrapers. Its form was the most original of The City. We tried to go up but the security guard forbade us.

Then, we crossed the Thames on the London Bridge to lead to the Shard. It was an impressive building : it looked like that from the top of it, we could touch the sky.
In the beginning of the afternoon, we went to the banks. There, we saw The City from a different view. Next, we decided to cross again the river but this time, we walked on the Tower Bridge. We didn’t know that this one was a tip-up bridge.
To end the day, we walked all round the Tower of London and read all the signs that related its history.
