Covent Garden

It’s a district near to the Thames, between the district of Westminster and The City of London. It became a famous district in the XVIth century, thanks to the architect Inigo Jones. It was inspired by the model of the Italian renaissance. Its name came from the fact that, before, this area was used as an orchard by Westminster Abbey’s monks.

The big building in the centre of the district, apple market, was built in 1830. It is an old property with a glass roof and stone walls. The structure is made of steel, with a lot of arches painted in green. It’s a touristic area with bars, restaurants and small businesses. There are 2 floors : downstairs, there are some restaurants where you can have breakfast while people do some activities.
